The paper considers practical and theoretical aspects of in-situ disposal with regard to the decommissioning of ChNPP units and transformation of the Shelter into ecologically safe system. The paper presents international experience and the analysis of applying the in-situ disposal option for the Exclusion Zone. The objective is to make proposals on the authorization of in-situ disposal in Ukraine and develop the relevant regulatory framework.
