Confusion may be inevitable when it comes to personal relations: so much of it is based on nuance, anyway. But it's also true that sexual harassment law, perhapsmore than most, is constantly evolving as each new case comes before the courts and establishes new precedents. Thus, what today would be a perfectly obvious (and winnable) case of harassment of a woman loses her job because she won't sleep with her boss was far from obvious to judges in the early I 970s.
