The publication deals with the main results of having studied Barrow no. 1 of the Kyzylkol’ burial ground 1 in Southern Kazakhstan. As a result of excavations, a complex funeral structure was there revealed, which combines constructive elements of both a catacomb and a surface crypt. Its archaeological complex is dated to the late Kangju period (2nd–4th centuries AD).
