. In cases where it is uncertain whether an inserted IUD has been expelled without the patienťs knowledge, has perforated the uterine wall, or is still in its proper intrauterine position, a plain X‐ray examination performed after insertion of a second IUD usually clarifies the situation. This technique is very simple from both the gynaecologisťs and the roentgenologisťs point of view.
