This article is an overview and, as a research task, introduces the results of early research on the use of digital modeling technologies in the Russian construction industry in general and the agro-industrial complex in particular. The article provides a comparative analysis of "traditional" technologies for the organization and management of construction and the BIM approach, describes the criteria for evaluating these approaches. Like any other technology, BIM has its own stages of development, the characteristics and main parameters of which are given in the work.
