The violet goby Gobioides broussoneti is reported trom the area around the mouth of the Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta (Colombian (Caribbean). Twenty-nine specimenswere collected, 28 juveniles (48-51 mm) and a ripe male (553 mm); the content of the gut of the adult indicates that the species eats basically vegetal detrítica I material, complemented by small invertebrates.
