Peranan Surau Sebagai Lembaga Pendidikan Islam Tradisional Di Padang Pariaman Sumatera Barat (Surau Syaikh Burhanuddin)

The case study intends to investigate the role of surau as a traditional Islamic education institute in Pariaman West Sumatera. It also goes on to show the social changing that influence surau education, and perspective surau  education development as a traditional Islamic education institute. The study has revealed that  surau as an Islamic traditional education institute has the roles as an institution of islamic education, custom and culture education, and as the center of society activity.
