Abstract With the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, independence came to the Baltic republics. The focus of this case study is on Ainars Kadish and his entrepreneurial efforts in bringing an abandoned greenhouse operation back to a productive and profitable state. Also discussed are the post‐Soviet environment and the privatization process as carried out in Latvia. The case provides financial information to explore Ainars' alternatives: should he continue producing at the current facility or build a new greenhouse complex?
