Wise city management, good road management is one of the most important things. Traffic congestion can be effectively controlled, provided that the number of vehicles passing through a traffic junction can be determined in advance. The proposed approach introduces a framework, which has the potential to continuously transmit traffic and generate alarms in the event of a major traffic congestion at the Sangli control station or in similar Indian cities. The number of vehicles passing through the area well before the required road junction can be estimated using the help of image processing techniques. In addition, monitoring information can be shared with a remote control centre near the city via the Internet. The tests performed show the effectiveness of this Internet-based technology (IoT) technology. Keywords: Traffic Volume Estimation, Genetic Algorithm, Wireless sensor network, Vehicle detection, Intelligent Traffic Signal Controller.
