In the context of the Spanish exile of 39 in Mexico, José Gaos, Joaquín Xirau y Eduardo Nicol dedicated substantial comments to the philosophical significance of Independence. Overall, it is characterized by its relevance to define and articulate a tradition of thought in Spanish language, common to both sides, so as to distinguish it in the context of Western modernity. This article raises a critical and compared review of approaches, turns and nuances with each of these authors elaborated this interpretation.
