with its highly pubescent stems (2). B16-PLH has not been tested for forage yield but has been grown in the field at Beltsville. It has highly pubescent stems and is moderately tall, rapid growing, and nondormant and nonwinter hardy similar to 'Moapa 69'. B16-PLH is expected to be of value to alfalfa breeders developing cultivars for the southern USA. Seed of B16-PLH will be maintained by the Germplasm Quality & Enhancement Laboratory, USDA-ARS, Building 001, Room 335, Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, Beltsville, MD 20705. While supplies last, 10 g of seed will be supplied on written request and agreement to recognize appropriately the source of germplasm when it contributes to the development of either a new cultivar, hybrid, or breeding line.
