Synopsis Lowered grain yields due to delayed planting dates were only partially overcome by increased fertilizer rates and use of earlier maturing, disease resisting varieties. Neither varieties nor yields from planting dates responded differentially to fertility levels. There was a differential response of varieties to planting dates and to years.
