Tourism in special district of Yogyakarta which is represented by Slemanregency andBantul regency is ranked fourth and tenth in Indonesia tourism index of Tourism Ministry version. This position shows the Special district of Yogyakarta displaced by other areas that always fix the tourism places. Previously, the special district of Yogyakarta was being the second tourist destination after Bali for both domestics and overseas tourist. The purpose of this study is to analyze the dynamics of tourism in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The primary data collection of qualitative research is obtained through in-depth interviews to the informant. The data analysis was used situation analysis (SWOT). To maintain the strength, reach the opportunities and make weaknesses and challenges as a force need serious handling which is supported by local government policies for the tourism. Local government policy becomes a generator in improving the tourism performance.
