Present Status of the Modified Widman Flap Procedure

Tradi tionally flap procedures have been used for three pur poses in periodontics: (1) surgical elimination of peri odontal pockets; (2) to induce reattachment and bone regeneration in periodontal pockets; (3) to correct gin gival and mucogingival defects and deficiencies. A flap procedure originally developed for one of these objec tives may later have been used to serve a second or third purpose.
