Abstract In this paper, there is a description of the development of PDP televisions equipped with ultra‐fine sub‐pixels in order to become competitive in the large‐scale TV market. Delta and triode cell geometry was implemented to establish the high luminescence in the 50‐inch FHD PDP models. In order to lower circuit costs, a modified scan pulse was used to establish a 1080p single scan. Furthermore, the possibility of developing a QFHD (2160/p) PDP television will be briefly mentioned. We have concluded that a new design is necessary in order to generate a product with ultra‐fine sub pixels that will not increase the breakdown voltage even if the sub‐pixel dimension is decreased to 100um.
