The analysis of the existing methods and means of self-regulation and management of rolling stock ofrailway transport is carried out. It is shown that the problem of power rational maintaining trains needs tobe considered as problem of multicriteria optimization, namely, reasonable choice from set of alternative solutions of numerical criteria of such alternative which at the set system of advantages is the best, than those alternatives which have not been chosen. It is shown that systems of autocontrol of train movementsallow to solve problem of optimum use of energy and temporary resources of the railroads. At the same time,systems of autocontrol of rolling stock which are mainly expected solutions of this problem, consider restrictions which are imposed for their work insufficiently. Technical means which realize the concept of traffic control of rail transport on polygon and according to it create and give the managing signals defining the movement mode on mobile structure, now are quite widely acquired. However these actions have mainlydirective character, leaving to the ability of their implementation opened problem.
