This article analyses the situation of solidarity economy in Mexico. The work is structured in five sections in which the reality of these economic alternatives, which aspire to become effective tools to fight against poverty and exclusion, is examined from different analytical axes that provide knowledge about their different conceptual and practical approaches; on the legal framework that protects it in Mexico and the public resources assigned for its promotion, as well as the potential and limitations that the network of solidarity economy has in Mexico. This work concludes with a brief conclusion of the challenges it faces.Received: 30 July 2017Accepted: 18 October 2017Published online: 31 January 2018
