The results of two years (2018-2019) monitoring of pest Drosophila suzukii (Matsumura, 1931) in the fruit ripening season in whole Ukraine are presented. The observations suggest that individuals of this species were recorded only at the end of the growing season (August–October) and only in western part of Ukraine (Transcarpathian region). We assume that the invasion of spotted wing fly is only beginning in this area and observed result is only a consequence of gradual adaptation of this pests to new conditions. We also assume that late occurrence of D. suzukii only reflects the presence of suitable food / fruit for the larvae at the end of the growing season. Several theoretical conclusions and hypotheses are briefly presented. It is therefore very important to focus on monitoring of this pest, as well as to study for factors that may affect its invasion.
