The article provides an overview of studies on the image of law enforcement officers, including the penitentiary system in the media. On the example of the activities of the press service of the Penitentiary system of Russia in the Sverdlovsk region, the ways of forming a positive image of an employee of the penitentiary system are considered. The method of content analysis of materials on the activities of the penal enforcement system for 2020 was used, which allowed us to conclude that at this stage the interest of journalists in preparing materials on the activities of the penal enforcement system is shifted to the topic of convicts, not employees. And the positive materials that are prepared and distributed by the press service of the Penitentiary system of Russia in the Sverdlovsk region, due to a number of factors, are not enough to form a positive image of an employee of the penal system.
