Guppies, Poecilia reticulata Peters, were bathed in sublethal levels of TEPA, tris (l‐aziridinyl) phosphine oxide, to determine its effect on reproduction and on the viability, survival, and reproduction of the unexposed F 1 generation. Male fertility was adversely affected at levels which did not influence female reproduction. Histological changes induced by TEPA were observed only in testicular tissue. Inhibited brood production was associated with both atrophied and morphologically “normal” testes; the effects varied with the concentration and frequency of exposure to TEPA. When exposures were discontinued, potency of males appeared to recover. No apparent effects were observed on the F 1 generation.
