The phase diagram of the system sulfuric acid-water in the range 80-100 mol % H 2 0 was reinvestigated by low-temperature DTA and X-ray powder diffraction. The results are compared with other studies in the literature. The crystal structures of the hydrates H 2 SO 4  · 6.5 H 2 O. melting incongruently at -54 °C. and H 2 SO 4  · SH 2 O (metastable) were determined to be those of oxonium salts. (H 5 O 2 )(H 7 O 1 )SO 4  ·1.5 H 2 O and (H 5 O 2 ) 2 SO 4  · 4 H 2 O, respectively.
