This article presents a definition and model of occupational stress. Key articles are reviewed to examine the relationship between occupational stress and VDU usage. The task characteristics of VDU work and the organisational and social environmental factors are identified as potential stressors. Recommendations incorporating management and ergonomic principles are provided to prevent occupational stress among VDU users.
