The application of the characteristic curve method (CCM) for the calculation of adsorption equilibria is discussed. It is shown that in the case of microporous adsorbents the CCM enables a priori calculations of adsorption equilibria in one- and multi-component systems over a wide range of temperature and equilibrium phase compositions employing only very limited ‘basic’ experimental information.
