Safeguarding the health and welfare of animals committed to veterinary care, regulating clinical standards and protecting the interests of clients are all roles of the RCVS. The mission of the BVA is to represent the veterinary profession, and to help members fulfil their professional roles. When it comes to issues such as the RCVS requirement to provide 24‐hour emergency cover, is it possible for the RCVS and the BVA to be in agreement about the way forward? BVA President Nicky Paull considers the issues.
