Wide area detector CT gives new applications for cardiovascular imaging, based on the ability to perform axial imaging over a craniocaudal field of view that extends up to 16 centimeters. This lecture will review the principles of the technology and focus on current and future clinical applications. Imaging of the cardiac and vascular systems, with related organ perfusion data will be presented. Radiation doses from these applications will be discussed. Learning Objectives: 1. Develop an understanding of wide area detector CT clinical applications. 2. Highlight examples of current cardiovascular CT protocols. 3. Discuss radiation dose in wide area detector CT.
