On Decomposition Numbers and Branching Coefficients for Symmetric and Special Linear Groups

In this paper we find the multiplicities dim L (λ) λ−α where α is an arbitrary root and L (λ) is an irreducible SL n ‐module with highest weight λ. We provide different bases of the corresponding weight spaces and outline some applications to the symmetric groups.
