Let X be a proper CAT(0) cube complex admitting a proper cocompact action bya group G, then X has a factor system in the sense of [BHS14]. By results ofBehrstock--Hagen--Sisto it follows that G is a hierarchically hyperbolic group;this answers questions raised by those authors. Our results also resolve aconjecture of Behrstock--Hagen on boundaries of cube complexes.Comment: 15 pages, 5 figure
