Photoautotrophically grown Chlamydomonas reinhardtii CC1690 cells shifted from low to high light. The image was taken by M. Schroda with an Olympus BX53F Microscope using DIC optics. Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is the first microalga in which riboswitches have been applied to regulate transgene expression (see review by Nguyen et al. in this issue). [Vol. 52, No. 3, pp. 320–328]
