With coloured lights as stimuli, doubling the size of the irrelevant stimulus subset in the Donders' c ‐reaction situation from one to two (Expt. I) and from three to six (Expt. II) did not lead to any significant increase in mean reaction times. The results are discussed with reference to John's model of the c ‐reaction situation.
