Hedyotis nankunshanensis R.‐J. Wang & S.‐J. Deng sp. nov. from China, is described and illustrated. It is morphologically similar to H. cantoniensis How ex Ko, but differs by having a pleiochasium inflorescence, hollow peduncles and stems, and different flowering season. Phylogenetic analysis inferred from nuclear internal transcribed spacers (ITS) and plastid petD sequences of 17 taxa revealed that H. nankunshanensis is an independent lineage that is closely related to H. cantoniensis and H. consanguinea Hance. Pollen ultrastructure was observed by SEM and described.
