The anaerobic phototransformation of tyrosine under visible light sensitized by riboflavin is reported. The cytotoxicity of the anaerobic photoproducts on in vitro ‐cultured myeloid mouse tumoral cells was demonstrated. A radical mechanism is proposed. Dityrosine was identified as one of the main anaerobic photoproducts by using absorption, emission and 1 H‐NMR spectra.
