A bstract : We present a study on the integral two‐point correlation functions of Hickson compact groups of galaxies. The results show no evidence that these objects form large‐scale structures beyond 10 h −1 Mpc. Their clustering is much weaker than that expected from the universal dimensionless correlation function for galaxy associations, but is overall more similar to that of galaxies. The results suggest that either Compact Groups are not real physical systems or their “seeding” is very different from that of other galaxy associations.
