Sliell of moderate size, fusiform, with an elevsted, rnpidly mending spire, which is composod of about nine volutions, and has an apicnl angle of from twenty to twonty-llve degrees, in diU'erent individuals whon not compressed. Gpire, when viewed in front, forming considerable more than hnlf tho length of the shell, but when measured on the opposite side forms n little less than onc-half the entire length. Volutions sllghtly convex and in some indivitlunls presenting a slightly shouldere$ aspeot oaused by a very slight, almost imperceptible nngulnrity nt about the upper third of the exposed part. Greatest diameter of the bodg-whorl aituated n little below the suture and deorensing below. Sotnre close and not strongly marked. Aperture narrow, olongsted, the outer lip sharp and oppressed in the upper part. Columells twisted and mnrked in the lower part by a single, but very mong twisted fnld ; anterior end of the lip rimate. Surface of the shell marked ouly by obsuure lines of growth.
