ABSTRACT One hundred and four canine spinal radiographs were reviewed and the osteophytes present were categorized into four types. It is speculated that the type 1 osteophyte represents spondylosis deformans and types 2, 3 and 4, a condition similar to one found in man, namely ankylosing hyperostosis.
