SUMMARY Increased gibberellin activity was detected in wheat and soybean plants following seed soaks with either BTS 44584 or chlormequat chloride. Foliar sprays with either compound did not affect the gibberellin levels in wheat plants but soybeans sprayed with BTS 44584 did not contain as much extractable gibberellin in the shoots as did control plants. It is concluded that there was little correlation between gibberellin content and the effect of the chemicals on growth of wheat and soybeans.
