Twenty years ago, few teachers and scholars of British Romanticism could have said much about women's dramatic writing in the British Romantic era. However, over the past ten years or so, many scholars have been asking not only what dramatic writing by British women of the era lies in the archives ready to be recovered, but also which questions should guide reconsideration of British women's dramatic writing during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
