During the past few years, the structures have been determined of many more immunologically specific extracellular polysaccharides of the more than 80 serotypes of Klebsiella. Structures of several additional pneumococcal type‐specific polysaccharides have also been elucidated. The new information is used to check inferences made earlier and to trace new correlations between chemical structure and immunological specificity.
