A case is presented in which an intracranial hibernoma ‐ behaving completely like a meningeoma as regards symptoms and macroscopical appearance ‐ was first identified during the postoperative histological examination. When the tumour was cut through, the surface was found to be brownish‐yellow and numerous tiny pearls of fat swam onto the surface of the liquid in which the tumour was placed. Histologically there were no difficulties in the differential diagnosis against meningeoma. This tumour has not earlier been described in relation to the meninges and the central nervous system.
