Chromosome analysis by means of high resolution banding technique was performed on lymphocyte cultures from 15 patients with familial adenomatosis of the colon and rectum (four patients with the Gardner syndrome and 11 with non‐Gardner polyposis coli). Special emphasis was given to the possible presence of a heteromorphism, tentatively interpreted as an interstitial deletion, previously reported on the long arm of chromosome 2. No such deletion could be detected: all analyzed karyotypes were found to be normal.
