R‐, G‐ and C‐banded chromosomes from the Domestic Fowl ( Gallus domesticus ) are shown. A brief discussion concerning the origin of the banding patterns on chromosomes after different treatments is given. A surprising correspondence between the G‐banded patterns of the largest chromosomes from different orders is revealed.
