Major Surgery in a Patient with Thrombasthenia and Rapid Removal of Normal Platelets

A case of thrombasthenia in a 63 years old man is presented. He had cancer of the colon and bled continuously from the rectum. After transfusion of platelets from ten donors, platelet count and bleeding time were unchanged. Nevertheless, a resection of the colon was successfully performed.
