A 19‐year‐old girl, whose sister had died from leukaemia, presented as a typical case of infectious mononucleosis, but after an afebrile period of 9 days agranulocytosis developed. Treatment with prednisone was instituted and a complete remission followed. A few previous reports dealing with this rare complication of infectious mononucleosis are reviewed.
