he problem of the relation of the carotid sinus to the T central nervous system and particularly to the cerebral circulation has arisen in a natural way from our present knowledge about the blood supply to the brain and its regulatory mechanisms. 1.t seems appropriate therefore, first to give a brief review of the cerebral blood supply, secondly, to recapitulate the general regulation of the cerebral circulation according to the hitherto assembled evidence and, thirdly, to consider the alleged relation of the carotid sinus to the central nervous system, to recollect previous theories and facts on thc subject, and to outline a schedule for my own treatment of the problem.
