A retrospective study of 295 myasthenia gravis patients is presented. Age and sex distribution are analyzed, as well as the socio‐economic background of the patients. The presenting clinical picture is recorded in detail, with emphasis on particular muscle groups initially involved. The course of the disease is studied with attention to the occurrence of myasthenic and cholinergic crises and to the overall pattern of the disease with the passage of time. The influence of pregnancy, respiratory infections, and menses on the course of myasthenia gravis is presented. Separate attention is given to coincident thyroid disease and to the ocular form of myasthenia gravis. The results of treatment of the disease with irradiation of the thymus, thymectomy and pharmacologic agents are analyzed in detail.
