Anatase nanocrystalline titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) with high photocatalytic activities was prepared by hydrothermal crystallization with the addition of acetic acid. The presence of acetic acid could arrest the growth of the nanocrystallites during the hydrothermal processes and be propitious to form nanocrystallites with round edges and corners. This morphology of (TiO 2 ) had more active sites in the photocatalytic process and showed high photocatalytic activity in the degradation of the methylene blue in the aqueous solution.
