The strengths of fine‐microstructural scale yttria‐stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal rectangular bars and circular disks were measured by four‐point flexure and flat ball (piston) on three‐ball methods. Fracture mirror sizes were measured and correlated to the strengths. Although it was difficult to precisely judge the mirror boundary location in this material, consistent readings could be obtained once simple guidelines were followed.
