SYNOPSIS. The chief sterol of the trypanosomatid, Leptomonas culicidarum , was isolated and identified as ergosterol. Its isolation was aided by devising a better method for mass cultivation of Trypanosomatidae. This consisted of growing the parasites in suspension with shaking instead of the usual stationary condition. The implications of these findings are discussed.
