Abstract This photographic essay describes an innovative museum exhibit at the Walter Elwood Museum in Amsterdam, New York. The process of constructing and presenting a community's collective industrial history for the museum was multidimensional, using many different approaches to represent the industrial history of the town. New representation strategies, such as object theater, were utilized to re‐create space so that visitors can experience a discussion‐simulation of depicted settings through lighting and audio.
