This commentary examines the internal dynamics, administrative processes, and religious and spiritual issues surrounding repatriation from the perspective of a tribal repatriation specialist. Specifically, based on work with the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians repatriation office, this essay addresses the trials and tribulations of seeking the return and reburial of ancestral human remains and sacred items.
