This contribution is another step towards establishing the origin of the Thesoro Politico (1589). It is only since 1995 that scholars have started investigating the origin of this book, and this article takes those results as the starting point. Here, I shall comment on manuscript letters found in Paris, some documents from the State Archives in Rome, and two books found in the National Library in Rome and in the British Library, which reveal unknown details about the life of Giovanni Maria Manelli, the person to whom the responsibility for the publication of the Thesoro Politico is attributed. The comparison between one of Manelli's letters and one of the reports in the Thesoro suggests that he can be considered the author of the Relazione delle divisioni di Francia. However, this does not automatically imply that Manelli is also responsible for the publication of the entire collection. Before this can be taken for granted, Manelli's relationship with the Parisian printers needs to be further investigated.
